happy valentine's day!

we celebrated our valentine's day in a lazy way. the boys woke me up by bringing in cards and candy (picked out all by themselves!!) and then we snuggled in bed for as long as you can with an 18-month old and a 3 year old. breakfast was banana nut waffles and bacon. we wandered out to wal-mart for our sunday morning shopping trip and happened to go out during the 2 hour window where the wind was going crazy and it started snowing. who would have guessed! lunch while watching the olympics and now everyone is down for the afternoon. thankfully the snow has stopped and it looks like the sun is trying to come out. it has been a wonderful day so far.

i've been celebrating the weekend by baking lots of delicious treats. i'm handing these out tomorrow. filled with these cookies (delicious!) and these yummy treats (like a chocolate chip mini pie - sooo good!) i had to wrap them up otherwise i would have eaten them all! ethan helped me make the cookie pie bites and he had a great time. i love that he has been more interested in cooking these days.

tonight i am making this cake. i am on a mission to find the best lava cake. so far the ones i have made never actually came out of the oven with the "lava." i don't know if i cooked them too long or what. this will be my first attempt at these and hopefully with the addition of the extra chocolate in the middle, they will turn out like the picture.
