happy mother's day!

today was the start of my attempt at the "week in the life" project featured on ali edwards blog. my sister-in-law laura posted about this project on her blog last week and i am so excited to try it out.

i had a wonderful mother's day, spent with my boys in the morning and shopping with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law in dallas in the afternoon...and well into the evening.

looking forward to this busy week (we're moving!!!) and capturing some moments from our last few weeks as a family of four.

ethan lately

1. he loves to sing. and he has one of the sweetest little voices. his current favorites are old mcdonald, little red caboose and no more monkey jumping on the bed.

2. he is excited about his baby sister. he talks about her most everyday. right now he seems to think she is at the hospital for some reason. but he has claimed her for himself. he said miles and daddy will have to get a different baby sister.

3. while he gets frustrated easily when he can't get his clothes on (or off) himself, he still wants to try and is so proud when he is able to do it.

4. he is a little helper. he wants to grow big and use tools and build houses like daddy.

5. he is very excited that he'll be sharing a room with miles soon. hopefully this will keep up when we get to the new house.

construction update: week eight

LOTS has changed in the past (almost) 3 weeks! it really looks like a house now! it should be ready in the next week and i am getting really excited. the pics below are from last week, so things have changed even more since these were taken...

kitchen and breakfast area pics:
tile backsplash in the kitchen...i LOVE it! i searched around forever to find a cheap enough alternative to the 1x1 mosaics and luckily this arrived at one of our local building supply stores right before we began construction.

baby girl's room! the blue is absolutely perfect!

main hallway in the house. i love the feeling of a kind of gallery-type walkway through the house. lance always hates when there is wasted space on plans (hallways especially) but i just really like the open feeling this creates.

one of my favorite features! thanks to lance, who is the king of ebay buying, over the course of a month he found enough of these digital dimmers to put in the house. i love, love, love them! you can set them to certain levels and with one touch of the button they'll come on to that level and if you hit them twice they come on full. a few of them even have a remote. i've already spent a bunch of time playing with them. maybe they are a bit over the top, but oh well!

on the schedule for this week...
1. trim 2 - this includes installing door hardware, cabinet hardware and bathroom hardware.
2. delivery of our appliances! CANNOT wait for the new fridge!
3. sheetrock and paint touch-ups
4. final grade, landscaping and sprinkler system install
5. trim 3 - install specialty items like curtain rods and non built-in shelving
6. carpet!!!
7. polishing of the stained concrete floors
8. final clean-ups
8. install shower doors in master bath

and hopefully after all this (and any other punchlist items) we'll be able to have a final inspection and be move-in ready by sometime next week! fingers crossed!

i am proud to announce...

that ethan is now officially binky free! and let's throw in potty trained too :)

it has been over a week since he had a potty accident of any kind and he wear underwear 24/7. it has been a long, long road and there were a lot of times i didn't think we'd make it. but amazingly enough, we are here!

as for the binky. he hasn't had one in 8 days!!! what a miracle from one of our little binky addicts. this morning marked the 14th quarter, which meant it was time to get his dorothy fish (goldfish). we counted out all the quarters and took his money jar to wal-mart and he got to pick out his fish. and got to pay for her all by himself! so proud! we set up the fish tank before naps and then officially put her in later this afternoon. her name is none other than dorothy since that is what we've been referring to her as for the past week or so.

we are in the process of restricting miles' binky use to the crib only (a little late, but he is a lot tougher than ethan was so it wasn't ever pushed) and ethan keeps telling him that when he doesn't use his binky anymore, he can have a dorothy fish too. so cute! miles does love dorothy and the two of them were very excited to tell her goodnight before bedtime.
