the day is drawing near.

miss mollie has a lovely nursery that she has yet to spend a night in. it has been ready for her since may. instead of sleeping in her "princess room" (as the boys call it), she's been sleeping right next to our bed in the co-sleeper. she's the first baby we've had who actually used it! miles spent about 5 minutes in it before he would wake up and would need to be brought into our bed. ethan was entirely too noisy and he alternated between crib time in his room and our bed in the early mornings.
i really have no reason to move her. she is that baby. the one i thought people were making up when asked the all too familiar question "is your baby sleeping through the night yet?" that question that makes you want to tear out your hair if they aren't. and makes you wonder what on earth you're doing wrong. i've been hesitant to even share that she sleeps through the night for fear of jinxing something, but she's been doing it for so long now, really since about 7 weeks, that i think we're good for now. and even before then she was only waking once or twice. ONCE OR TWICE!! now she wakes once most nights. and on the nights she is fussy and doesn't go down until later, she might sleep straight through until 7AM. i count us very, very lucky. and am glad it happened on our last baby rather than the first. then you can really appreciate it.
ethan was a good sleeper, but didn't sleep through the night (one early morning waking) until about 6 months and then slept about 11-12 hours straight at 12 months.
miles made me love coffee. we had a long 8 months where he would wake every.single.hour from 11PM - 5AM. i think we both spent some time sleeping on his star rug where i would nurse him then leave him for fear of waking him when i moved him to his crib. he was getting most of his milk through the night and i knew it wasn't a good thing, but if i didn't nurse him he cried and i was desperate for sleep...so it was the lesser of two evils. but he barely ate during the day so it was a vicious cycle. we cured it with some sleeping training (awful as it was) and thankfully by about 12 months he was down to 1 waking and then sleeping about 11-12 hours straight by 15 months.
so you can see why there is really no reason to move mollie. plus she is our last baby and it makes it more real that she is growing up when i move her to her own room. but we made a pact to have her out of the room by 3 months and that day is growing near. it is this week. i know she'll do great in her crib. i know i'll sleep better because i won't be listening for her at her normal waking time between 3 and 4AM. but it doesn't make it any easier. i know i will miss being able to hear her breathe. i know i will miss being able to reach over and put my hand on her.
i also know she'll still spend her early mornings in bed with us at least for a little while longer...

Sweet post. I'm sure she will do great.
Such a nice post! As hard as it will be, I know she'll do great!
That time came and went for us too, at 3 months...it's just so bittersweet. Sweet, sweet post
It is bittersweet when that time comes to move them. I agree with you and don't know how you can when waking up to that sweet face each morning!
i LOVE that last pic. Sooo innocent!
