construction update: week one
so far, so good!
the weather held up enough for us that we were able to get all the piping placed for the radiant heating. unfortunately it rained on monday (the day we were supposed to pour the slab) but it was clear on tuesday. we rented a pump truck, a first for lance, since it was going to be too muddy to get concrete trucks into the yard. the slab was poured and glass embedded in the kitchen, breakfast area, laundry room and bathrooms. we are waiting on the concrete to dry enough that we can go back and start cutting it down - this is part of the process for the stained concrete.
some pictures of our progress so far:
the first few are of the tubing for the radiant floor (blue) and the cables for the slab (green)

our littlest superintendent checking out the construction:

pouring the slab:

my hubby in his concrete work boots...normally he doesn't stick around for the entire pour (we've used our concrete subs for over 2 years and they are really good) but with all the extra tubing in the slab, he wanted to be there to make sure everything stayed in place.

we're finishing up this week with staining the concrete and up next week is FRAMING!!!
