trick-or-treating!

it was a perfect fall night for some trick-or-treating with grandmother and a friend. after a bit of a timid start, ethan quickly got the hang of things and went right up to those doors and rang the bell. mr. miles had a great time again as he got to be held for pretty much the whole night. we still had to work on saying trick-or-treat (he said it only very quietly) and thank you (same thing). so hopefully next year, he'll get the hang of that.

we went to the same neighborhood we went to last year and there is one house that always decorates like crazy and is the spooky house. ethan wanted nothing to do with it last year. he was a little bit braver this year and at least let us take some pictures in front of it. i don't blame him though, it is kind of scary looking!

after we got home, grandmother and ethan checked out the candy and he actually ended up with a pretty good bit. i've already sampled some myself :)

happy halloween!

halloween 2009...we had to celebrate as a family a little bit early since lance will be going to the football game tomorrow night. i love the sooners...but a 6:00 game on halloween is NOT appropriate!

the costumes are the reason i hadn't been updating the blog as much as i wanted to. i've been working on them, mainly miles' costume, for a long time...i am embarrassed to admit, since september, but seeing them on the boys tonight made it all worth it! i am so proud of them and think they turned out just adorable! it was a complete success tonight as BOTH boys wore their costumes...what a miracle! i had visions of either or both of them not wanting anything to do with them. ethan almost wasn't going to wear that hat (that i made in about 10 minutes tonight while feeding the boys the halloween cookies so i could get it done), but at the last minute changed his mind and ended up loving his hat.

we got a few pics of a binkyless lion, but had to bring back the binky in order to keep from a meltdown. don't all lions use a binky? :)

after our pictures we went to a small church carnival and ethan played some games and won some candy and miles just loved being held and his first taste of a tootsiepop. tomorrow night i'll be taking the boys out for actual trick-or-treating. hopefully i'll be able to get them into their costumes again!

halloween treats

we made some halloween sugar cookies (bats, ghosts, pumpkins and cats) earlier this week and finally got around to decorating them. i wanted to do colored frosting, but time got the better of me and we went with store bought. so much easier and it meant they actually got done! i think ethan ate more of the sprinkles than he put on, but he did enjoy decorating. though this time, he kept telling me i was putting on too many sprinkles, i guess he wanted to save more to eat. miles was a big fan of the cookies too as you can see in the last few pics.

ethan's new best friend is "lambie." what is hilarious is that we've had this particular lamb since before ethan was born. i bought it when i was decorating his nursery, along with a stuffed rabbit. they went with his bedding. while they were both in his crib, he only took to the rabbit. so the rabbit followed him into his big boy bed. well, just recently miles found lambie (maybe sitting on a shelf, not sure) and instantly renewed interest from ethan! of course they are both attached to him, but ethan definitely more so. ethan puts lambie down for naps, takes him in the car, has meals with him, puts him to bed...basically lambie does everything ethan does. it is really cute to watch! the other day i got some pictures of ethan sharing breakfast with his friend.

i am on the lookout for another lambie of sorts and i am hopeful that miles will like it almost as much as the real thing.

pumpkin patch trip, take two

we had a great time again at the pumpkin patch last weekend, before we all got sick. the weather was perfect and lance was home so he got to come along too. a fan favorite again this trip was the play house and the petting zoo. miles even got to pet the goat and he LOVED it! a video would have probably been better than just these pictures because he was just laughing and smiling. we didn't do the hay ride because i am not sure how the boys would react. there was still plenty to do without that. enjoy all the pics!

a rough week

well after my promise to post more pictures, i haven't done anything in the past week. i have a bunch of great pumpkin patch pictures from this weekend, but right after we took those, everyone in the house got sick. some sort of cold/virus thing. i took miles to the doctor yesterday and that was the verdict. miles and lance seem to be on the mend, though miles still sounds very congested, i think he is over the worst of it. i'm feeling a little better and hopefully will be back to normal soon. poor ethan is just getting it. the only good thing about everyone getting sick at once is that you get it all over with!

hopefully in the next few days everyone will be healthy again and i'll get to posting some more pictures! and finishing those halloween projects!

gymnastics in action

i am finally catching up with blogging. things have been a little crazy these past few weeks. i've been working on some halloween projects that have been taking up a lot of time! they're not quite ready yet, but soon i'll have a preview :) i'm going to try to do a better job of keeping up.

here are some pictures from last week's gymnastics class with ethan. he insisted on wearing his hood the entire class. he did look really cute though! in the last picture he is showing off his star stamp that they get after each class. he gets really excited about that. he has really been enjoying the class and i am glad we have been able to find something like this.
