ethan's friend

ethan's new best friend is "lambie." what is hilarious is that we've had this particular lamb since before ethan was born. i bought it when i was decorating his nursery, along with a stuffed rabbit. they went with his bedding. while they were both in his crib, he only took to the rabbit. so the rabbit followed him into his big boy bed. well, just recently miles found lambie (maybe sitting on a shelf, not sure) and instantly renewed interest from ethan! of course they are both attached to him, but ethan definitely more so. ethan puts lambie down for naps, takes him in the car, has meals with him, puts him to bed...basically lambie does everything ethan does. it is really cute to watch! the other day i got some pictures of ethan sharing breakfast with his friend.

i am on the lookout for another lambie of sorts and i am hopeful that miles will like it almost as much as the real thing.

pumpkin patch trip, take two

we had a great time again at the pumpkin patch last weekend, before we all got sick. the weather was perfect and lance was home so he got to come along too. a fan favorite again this trip was the play house and the petting zoo. miles even got to pet the goat and he LOVED it! a video would have probably been better than just these pictures because he was just laughing and smiling. we didn't do the hay ride because i am not sure how the boys would react. there was still plenty to do without that. enjoy all the pics!

a rough week

well after my promise to post more pictures, i haven't done anything in the past week. i have a bunch of great pumpkin patch pictures from this weekend, but right after we took those, everyone in the house got sick. some sort of cold/virus thing. i took miles to the doctor yesterday and that was the verdict. miles and lance seem to be on the mend, though miles still sounds very congested, i think he is over the worst of it. i'm feeling a little better and hopefully will be back to normal soon. poor ethan is just getting it. the only good thing about everyone getting sick at once is that you get it all over with!

hopefully in the next few days everyone will be healthy again and i'll get to posting some more pictures! and finishing those halloween projects!

gymnastics in action

i am finally catching up with blogging. things have been a little crazy these past few weeks. i've been working on some halloween projects that have been taking up a lot of time! they're not quite ready yet, but soon i'll have a preview :) i'm going to try to do a better job of keeping up.

here are some pictures from last week's gymnastics class with ethan. he insisted on wearing his hood the entire class. he did look really cute though! in the last picture he is showing off his star stamp that they get after each class. he gets really excited about that. he has really been enjoying the class and i am glad we have been able to find something like this.

first trip to the pumpkin patch

and yes, there will need to be more! i had my camera all ready to go, but sadly i forgot to check the battery. at least i had my phone. pics aren't great (cell phones are not the easiest things to take pictures of kids wiht), but they'll work for this time. the boys both loved it though, so we'd be going back anyway. ethan helped pick out 3 pumpkins: "one for ethan, one for miles and one for momma & daddy" - so he had his priorities straight.

we did the petting zoo and ethan did pretty well feeding all of the animals except the llama - too big! then we played in the corn crib - basically a sandbox that had corn kernals in it - pretty fun and a lot cleaner than sand! both the boys liked that. last, but not least, we did the big sand pile. ethan was definitely a fan. i kept miles away this time...i think sand and a 14-month old would not mix well.

anyway, stay tuned for more pics from the pumpkin patch in the coming weeks!

another walking video

i LOVE the early walking videos. how they're all shaky and their arms are held out in hopes of not falling. miles is definitely walking a lot more now and will even get back up and start walking again rather than just crawling. very, very cute! and i promise we do get dressed here, even though it doesn't ever look like it from the pics :)

first dentist visit for ethan

ethan had his first visit to the pediatric dentist today. a little late probably, but who knew it could take 4 months to get an appointment with a dentist!?

all in all, the visit went well. the office was very nice and kid friendly with lots of bright colors and fun toys to play with. we had a wonderful assistant and she made ethan a kitty kat and snake balloon to take home.

the exam wasn't too bad. he did really well for all parts of it except the laying down part during which he SCREAMED and worked up quite a sweat. but as soon as he was able to sit up again he was good. no xrays at this time since they didn't see anything they needed to look at and didn't want to freak him out anymore than he already was. i am happy to report that he had no cavaties (and got his picture up on the no cavity wall!!), just a little bit of build-up on two of his bottom front teeth that was easily (though not by ethan's standards!!) cleaned off. other than that, just checked his teeth with no real concerns. he did mention that we should wean off of the pacifier in the next 6 months or so...yeah, it is in the plan, i just haven't gotten up the nerve yet! though he apparently has slept at grandmother and grandfather's house fine without a pacifier in the past, so i know he can do it. just another one of those things i think i am more scared about than he is.

our next visit is scheduled for 6 months from now. they will start doing polishing/cleaning then. the first visit is the only one where the parents go back with the child, after that they go by themselves since it usually helps them behave differently, you know without the mom there.
